Check out The Great Books List!
Bibliomancy is a practice whereby a person seeking spiritual insight selects a random passage from a book (often a sacred text). The Ancient Greeks often used Homer's Iliad, letting the text fall open to select a page. The I Ching has been used for thousands of years in a similar manner, and Virgil's Aeneid was a popular choice in the mediaevil period.
This site allows you to perform your own bibliomancy readings using a number of different texts. If you wish, you may add comments to your readings, and you can check back on them in the future to see whether the readings had value.
Bibliomancy.org has just moved to a new server. Everything seems to be working fine so far, but if you encounter any issues, please let me know. Thanks!
I came across a great site about e-books. Check out LiterateLifetime.com if you get a chance, and if you find a book you think would be good for bibliomancy readings, let me know.
Due to popular demand, I've added the I Ching as a book that you can use for your bibliomancy readings.
Each time you do a reading from the I Ching, you will be presented with one of its sixty-four sections. Interpreting these readings might be a bit different than it would be for other books, but I'm sure you'll find the effort well-rewarded.
For good measure, I've also added Virgil's Aeneid, another classic. Enjoy!
We've added a place where you can suggest a book that we should add to the site. Please let us know which texts would be interesting to you, and we'll do our best to add them as soon as possible.
Please note that, while this feature has been available for a while, the results were not saved properly. If you requested a book, we apologize for having missed it, and humbly ask that you request it again. Mike
